This past week, a giant in the field of technology passed away. From humble beginnings, he started his first business in a garage. At the time of his death, another company he started was by most measures among the largest, most influential and innovative in the world. Of course, this man was Steve Jobs.

Today, I would like each of you to explore the life of Steve Jobs. I've included some resources to start you off; you should also search for other sources of information on your own. As you read, watch, and listen, please think about these questions:

What do you think motivated Jobs as a young man? Do you think his motivation changed over time? What did he profess to value? Do you think his actions were consistent with his professed values? How do Apple products reflect the influence of Steve Jobs? Would you like to have a person like Steve Jobs as a boss? What do you think his greatest accomplishment was? How would you write his epitaph?

Choose (4) of these questions and respond in an email to me. Complete as homework if you don't finish in class - all emails to me by homeroom Wednesday (today is the only class time given to this task).

The topic this time is--pick a Saint and create a web site for them. Use an informative paragraph for your saint on the home page, and then create at least 2 DIFFERENT type pages to go along with. Use at least one image on each page! Obviously, you'll have to first do some research to do this successfully. Expect to continue this project tomorrow also.
Mr. Jones - please collect any questions students may have about this process and email to me; I'll do my best to get these answered and back to you ASAP.

We'll begin the week with a continuation of our discussion on the the process that takes place that places your content in front of your audience, wherever they are in the world.
You'll be learning your first tags and attributes - HTML code!
We'll also look at file extensions.
We'll set up the virtual structure of your personal site on your Badin server drives.

Assignment 1 and PAT2 - after the Jump
Assignment 1
Add your picture to your Badin Google Apps account. Picture should be your head shot only. (both classes)

PAT2
You'll start the week working with your personal site and your first assignment; as soon things are cleared up and you can access the Badin server you'll be working on updates.

Set up your remote site in DW.
Backup (copy back to your Badin server) all remote contents into a single folder.
Delete all remote contents except for images and scripts folders.
Create your home page, using a single linked style sheet for all formatting. Establish your initial color scheme. Include all required elements of good HTML (as you learned last year).

You will receive an assignment grade for how successfully you complete each of the 4 bullet points above. You will each be allowed a predetermined number of questions, after which further questions about this assignment will draw a grade penalty. Must be completed by Saturday 6 pm.
